Best tentacle dildos
Heavily textured, steeply tapered, and made almost entirely by small studios in platinum silicone. Firmness matters more here than anywhere else.
Tentacle designs sit inside the fantasy category and share its unusual advantage: because these are small-batch and made to order, essentially every serious maker uses platinum-cure silicone. The mass-production economics that push cheap products toward porous elastomer do not apply when you are pouring twenty units at a time.
So safety mostly takes care of itself, provided you buy from an actual studio. What replaces it are two decisions that matter more here than in any other shape.
Firmness and taper. Tentacle designs taper steeply, meaning circumference climbs fast along the shaft, and they are heavily textured. Soft silicone compresses and forgives both. Firm silicone does neither. On a first tentacle purchase, order soft.

Twin Tail Creations
A studio built around this shape specifically, which shows in how the taper and suction-cup detailing are resolved. Platinum silicone throughout, firmness selectable, made in the USA. Small operation, so stock and lead times are the constraint rather than quality.
- Platinum silicone, boilable
- Designs built around the taper rather than adapted
- Firmness selectable per order
- Made in USA with published material
- Long lead times
- Limited stock
- Custom orders are typically final sale

Bad Dragon
The largest maker in the fantasy space, with the deepest customisation and the widest size scaling. Platinum silicone across the range with firmness, colour, and size selectable. The scale means quality control is more consistent than at the smallest studios.
- Platinum silicone across the entire range
- Widest size scaling available
- Firmness selectable
- Consistent quality control at volume
- Price climbs steeply with size
- Lead times can be long
- Not returnable once customised

Strange Bedfellas
Smaller studio, more experimental shapes, and dual-density construction on some models. Same platinum silicone safety profile. Dual density is worth seeking out on a heavily textured design because the soft outer layer takes the edge off the texture.
- Platinum silicone
- Dual density available on some models
- Designs unavailable at larger scale
- Very limited stock
- Long lead times
- Smaller size range

Uberrime Splendid
Ships from stock rather than made to order, which makes it the fastest route into textured designs and the cheapest. Same platinum silicone. Textures that mass-market brands will not tool for, at a price below most custom work.
- Ships from stock, no lead time
- Lower price than custom orders
- Full material disclosure
- Textures unavailable at scale
- Limited colourways
- Sells out regularly
- Fewer size options than custom makers

Reading a tapered size chart
This is where people get it wrong. A conventional product has roughly consistent circumference along the usable length. A tentacle tapers steeply, which means the number at the tip is meaningless and the number at the base is what determines whether the full length is usable.
Makers usually publish circumference at several points along the shaft. Read the widest one you intend to take, not the average and not the tip. Circumference, not diameter, and multiply by 3.14 if the studio publishes diameter.
Why firmness matters more here
Texture and taper compound. A firm textured shaft transmits every ridge at full intensity and does not compress when the circumference climbs. A soft one flattens under pressure at both. Two products with identical measurements in different firmnesses are genuinely different objects, and on a textured design the gap is wider than on a smooth one.
Order soft on a first purchase. You can buy firmer later, and a firm textured product that turns out to be too much is usually unsellable and unreturnable.
Marketplace copies
Cheap imitations of tentacle designs appear constantly on marketplaces at a fraction of the studio price. Those are TPE, they are not made by the designer, and the price alone tells you. Platinum silicone in a complex textured mould cannot be produced and sold at $25. Beyond the material problem, deep texture on a porous surface is the worst possible combination for cleaning, because the crevices hold fluid and the pores hold what the crevices miss.
Cleaning textured silicone
Deep texture needs more attention than a smooth surface even in silicone. Work soap into the crevices with your fingers rather than relying on running water, then boil for three to five minutes, then dry fully before storage. Full care guide.

Questions
Are tentacle dildos body safe?
From established studios, yes. The category runs almost entirely on platinum-cure silicone because small-batch production has no cost incentive to cut the material. Marketplace copies at a fraction of the price are TPE and are not.
What firmness should I choose?
Soft on a first purchase. Texture and steep taper both compound with firmness, and soft silicone compresses to forgive a sizing misjudgement where firm does not.
How do I size a tapered design?
Read the circumference at the widest point you intend to take, not the tip and not an average. Makers usually publish measurements at several points along the shaft.
Is deep texture harder to clean?
Yes, but it is manageable in silicone. Work soap into the crevices by hand, then boil. In a porous material, deep texture is the worst case and no routine fixes it.
